We evaluated the effect of ambient and constant temperatures on the development rate of Chrysomya magacephala and C. rufifacies, the most common and important forensically blow fly species in Thailand. The ambient temperature averages were 29, 29.5, 31, 32, 32.5, 36.5, 38 ° c and the constant temperatures were 25, 27, 30, 33, 36 and 39 ° c The findings showed that the accumulated degree hour (ADH) oftemperature range 25, 27, 30, 32.5, 36.5, 32, 36 และ 38 ° c were 3015.0, 3283.6, 3289.4, 3919.5, 3581.5, 3276.0, 4140.0, 3929.0, 3410.0, 4900.0 respectively and the ADD were 125.6, 136.8, 137, 163.3, 149.3, 136.5, 313.0, 163.7, 172.0 and 204.1 respectively. However, the ADH and ADD of C. rufifacies were not statistically significant from those of C. megacephala (F5=2.54, p<0.3300), they were 3840.0 3507.2, 3716.8, 3848.3, 4456.5, 1568, 4311.0, 4690.5 and 4270 for ADH, and were 160.0, 146.1, 154.9, 137.0, 185.6, 327.7, 306.7, 177.9 for ADD at 25, 27, 30, 33, 36, 39, 32.5, 32, 36 and 38 ° c respectively. Additionally, the linear equation model of developmental rate of C. megecephala to calculate the base threshold temperature was 21.4 ° c, while for C. rufifacies was -2.0 ° c. The thermal constant of C. megacephala and C.rufifacies were 1000 and 1250 respectively. Larval sizes among five different constant temprature, 27, 30, 33, 36, 39 ° c were 1.83+-0.12-13.20+-0.56, 1.96+-0.06-14.83+-1.40, 1.79+-0.26-15.79+-0.96, 1.96+-0.26-15.41+-0.79, 1.86+-0.22-15.57+-0.94 mm, respectively (F=731.00, df = 8 P<0.001). These results provide new information on the temperature-dependent developmental rate of C. magacephala and C.rufifacies the important contribution to Thailand forensic entomology.
